Elements of Interior Design

Interior Design can be broken down into three elements: Vision, Technical, and Selection. Here we briefly explain the elements to give you a better understanding of what may be involved. The amount of time and money spent on each element depends on the scope of your project. Distinctive Design would be delighted to help you with one or all of these elements.

Design Vision

Vision is the element of the project requiring imagination and creativity. You may already have a general idea of what you want your space to look and feel like, or maybe not. Our job is to ask the right questions, provide an expert interpretation of your lifestyle or business, and work with you to design a space that has the right feel, colors, style, layout, and functionality. A great designer knows how to figure out exactly what you want, even if you don’t yet realize exactly what you want.

The Selection element is where furnishings of appropriate style, size, color, and texture are chosen. After all the hard work spent in the Vision and Technical elements, it is critical to properly accessorize the space and add the finishing touches. This is where a skilled interior designer will figure out exactly what your style is and will build a space with the look and feel you want.
